This is a free December 2026 calendar printable built for a household rather than a desk: one page, Monday to Sunday, with room beside the grid for birthdays, the don’t-forgets and the one thing that actually matters this month. It prints on US Letter and A4, and you can print it blank or with the filled example beside it to copy from. Put it on the fridge at eye level, fill it in once, and for the rest of December people read it instead of asking you.
What’s on the December 2026 family calendar
December 2026 opens on a Tuesday and runs through Thursday the 31st, so the grid is five rows deep — the last days of November greyed in at the top, the first days of January waiting in the corner at the bottom. It is the busiest month on the fridge all year, and also the one most likely to get quietly skipped once the cards stop arriving.
- A full month grid, Monday-first, weekends tinted so a Saturday is findable at a glance from across the kitchen.
- “This month’s one big thing” — one arched box at the top of the side strip. December usually has an obvious answer — the day itself — so the box is there to get it written down before the month fills in around it.
- Birthdays & don’t-forgets — seven lines with a circle to fill in when it is done, for the things that have no date of their own: who is hosting, the card that has to be posted, the passport that expires this month.
- Next month at a glance — a small January grid in the corner, because half of what you write in December is really about January.
- A punch hole at the top, if you would rather hang it than magnet it.
How to use the printable family calendar — five minutes, once a month
- Fill it in on the last Sunday of November, in one sitting, with the school newsletter and everyone’s phone on the table. This is the only part that takes effort, and doing it once beats doing it in fragments all month.
- Start with the recurring things — bin day, the club that meets every Thursday, payday. They are the skeleton, and they make the empty squares mean something.
- Give each person a colour of pen. Not a system, just a habit: after a week nobody has to read the writing to know whose day is busy.
- Write the one big thing first, before the grid. In a month that ends the way December does, that box is usually the thing that keeps everyone pointed the same direction.
- Put it where the argument happens — the fridge door, not the study. A calendar nobody walks past is a calendar nobody reads.
Printing it: US Letter, A4, and going easy on the ink
Two files, so you never have to scale one to fit the other: US Letter (8.5×11in — the US and Canada default) and A4 (the rest of the world). Print at 100%, no scaling — “fit to page” shrinks the grid and steals the writing room. There is a low-ink version too, with the colour fills dropped and the type untouched, for the printer that always seems to be one cartridge short right when you need it most.
Plain paper is fine. If you want it to survive a busy month, print on the heaviest paper your printer takes, or slide it into a document sleeve and write on the plastic with a dry-wipe pen.
Why the month still goes on the door
A shared calendar app is better at reminders and worse at everything else a household actually needs. Nobody opens an app to find out whether Thursday is busy; they glance. A paper month is visible to the person who does not have the app, the person whose phone is upstairs, and the seven-year-old who cannot have one — and it never asks anyone to log in. Keep the app for alarms if it helps. The wall is what stops the same four questions being asked every evening — useful in any month, and worth having before the one everybody is travelling for.
Then next month, print January’s. That is the whole system.
FAQ
Is the December 2026 calendar printable free?
Yes. Pop in an email and we send you the PDF in both US Letter and A4, plus the rest of the Fridge Door Kit. Nothing to buy, and you can print it as many times as you like.
Does it print on both US Letter and A4?
Both, as two separate files — no scaling needed. Print at 100% with page scaling off; “fit to page” shrinks the grid and takes away the room you need to write in.
Does the calendar week start on Monday or Sunday?
Monday. The weekend sits together at the right-hand end of each row, which is how most households actually think about a week.
Can I print it in black and white to save ink?
Yes — there is a low-ink version with the colour fills removed and the layout and type untouched, so it still reads properly in plain black on white.
What am I supposed to write in the “one big thing” box in December?
The single event the month is really about — Christmas morning, a trip, who is hosting. December almost always has an obvious answer; writing it down early is what stops it turning into a last-week scramble.
